ABOUT US
Expert Veterinary Care with a Personal Touch

At Paradise Veterinary Service, we believe that pets are family—and we’re honored to be a trusted part of yours. Our veterinarian and compassionate staff is dedicated to providing top-quality care to keep your pets happy, healthy, and thriving.

Rooted in Our Community
We’re proud to call this community home. Every member of our care team has lived in the area for many years, and we are deeply committed to supporting the families, farmers, and neighbors who make it such a special place. When you visit Paradise Veterinary Service, you’re not just another client—you’re part of our extended family.

Personalized, Affordable, and Realistic Care
We understand that every pet, every family, and every situation is unique. Not every animal needs the same tests or treatments, and not every family has the ability to spend thousands of dollars on care. That’s why we take a personalized approach, offering realistic and thoughtful recommendations based on what’s best for both the pet and the owner. Our goal is to deliver high-quality, compassionate care that’s tailored to your needs—and to always work together with you to find the best path forward.

Dr Steve's Story

Dr. Steve Vredenburg is a trailblazer in veterinary medicine with over 42 years of experience.

As the founder and former owner of Banks Veterinary Service in Oregon, Dr. Vredenburg spent 30 years building a full-service, four-veterinarian practice that became renowned for its innovative therapies, advanced surgical techniques, and state-of-the-art diagnostic modalities.

His influence extends internationally through collaborations with ALTA Genetics, Therriault Creek Ranch, Trans Ova Genetics, the American Embryo Transfer Association, and numerous cattlemen and dairymen. Specializing in bovine embryo transfer, he pioneered cutting-edge technologies for non-surgical recovery and freezing of bovine embryos, contributing to global advancements in the field.

Beyond his technical expertise, Dr. Vredenburg is a firm believer in the power of veterinary medicine to enrich lives. In a 2009 letter to JAVMA, he wrote, "I believe that veterinary medicine is more than just business. We are here to improve the quality of life of animals and their owners. We are a service industry. We can influence our clients and our community through that service and by our example we can enrich our own lives and appreciation for life in that application."

His legacy continues to inspire veterinarians and animal caregivers, demonstrating that compassionate, innovative veterinary care makes a lasting impact.

Dr Steve Vrendenburg's Philosophy

At Paradise Veterinary Service, we believe that veterinary medicine is first and foremost about service, compassion, and trust—not about sales or transactions. Our purpose is to improve the quality of life for animals and their owners, providing ethical, thoughtful care that supports both health and well-being. We do not believe in unnecessary procedures or pressure tactics. Instead, we believe in offering honest, personalized guidance to every client, ensuring they feel informed, respected, and empowered to make the best decisions for their pets.

As a long-standing part of this community, our entire care team has deep roots here. Many of us have lived, worked, and raised our families in the area for decades. We understand and value the importance of community, and we are proud to serve our neighbors with the same dedication and heart that have guided this practice for generations.

We also believe that veterinary work is more than a career—it’s a calling. Caring for animals, educating owners, and building trusted relationships with clients is work that brings meaning and enrichment to our own lives. We view our practice as an extension of ourselves: a place where compassion, skill, and integrity come together to make a real difference.

At Paradise Veterinary Service, we are committed to working directly with our clients, offering realistic, affordable options tailored to each unique situation. We believe that work and life are interconnected, and that by perfecting our craft and serving our clients with honesty and care, we not only improve the lives of animals but also enrich our own lives and community in the process.

We are honored to continue serving this community we call home—and we look forward to caring for your pets with the same respect, kindness, and dedication that have defined our practice from the very beginning.
